Senior Planner / Planning Manager

We are looking to recruit a Senior Planner or Planning Manager ideally with a minimum of 2 years experience in Planning, this could be with a local authority or a housing company and experience in the Hampshire area. You will contribute towards and assist in, managing land acquisitions for the Group. The post holder is a key member of the Development Department and will ensure that they align their job role with departmental strategies and changing business dynamics and goals of the Group.
In addition, to develop relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to solicit feedback that delivers continuous improvement throughout the business.
Specific Accountabilities
• Manage the submission of planning applications to Local Planning Authorities;
• Compile Planning applications, conditions, and appeal documentation for submission to Local Planning Authorities including research as necessary on the prior planning history of sites.
• Submit and manage successful planning applications.
• Organise and maintain office work systems including ensuring that computer records are accurate and up to date.
• Maintain an up to date record of Local Planning Authorities’ Planning policies and Local Plan Reviews for internal reference.
• Monitoring and reviewing local planning policy including strategies which take account of transport, the local economy, jobs, green infrastructure, renewable energy, climate change and the historic environment.
• Conducting appropriate research to inform planning applications.
• Negotiate, obtain quotations from, and instruct external engineers and other consultants and assist in the evaluation of their use by the Group. • Assist in the production of Planning Sketch Schemes through liaison with architects.
• Collate and maintain evidence from public consultation meetings where the planning process requires it.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external customers and external suppliers.
• Attend Planning Committee Meetings, Rights of Way Panels and Public Consultation Meetings to represent the Group.

Qualifications and Skills:
• Experience of working as a Planner.
• Planning, Surveying or Architectural degree or equivalent experience.
• RTPA, RIBA or RICS qualification.
• Experience in addressing the general public along with council officers and committee members in a public forum.
• Knowledge of planning processes and regulations for planning approval.
• Exceptional negotiating and influencing skills; a confident and professional networker
• An innovative thinker, with the drive to seek out and pursue new development opportunities
• Familiarity with all legal and contractual aspects of the land process
• Able to communicate with a wide range of people, create rapport and trust, and develop and maintain key contacts
• Articulate, clear and credible, and able to thrive under pressure in a fast paced environment
• Excellent Administration experience
• Ability to problem-solve and resolve issues effectively
• Communication and organisational skills
• IT skills, and experience using Microsoft applications such as Outlook and Excel.
• Ability to manage own workload.
• Good organisational skills.

Salary/Package
- Negotiable for the right person.
- The role will be office based and 9-5pm
