We are seeking a skilled Naval Architect to join our client’s dynamic team, reporting directly to the UK Engineering Lead. The role involves undertaking a wide range of engineering analyses and tasks related to:

  • Floating offshore wind (hydrodynamics, station keeping systems, T&I, floaters selection, simulation)
  • Oil and gas (hydrodynamics, moorings and structural aspects related to floaters such as FPSO, FLNG, semi-subs, jack-ups etc)
  • General naval architecture consultancy (stability, structural assessments, seafastening, small vessel modifications) 
  • Responsibilities include performing hydrodynamic studies, station keeping systems analysis, floaters selection, and simulations.
  • Support various business streams such as Marine Warranty, Marine Services, and Marine Operations, with occasional travel within the UK and abroad.

 

Key Requirements:

  • Education: MEng / MSc in a relevant degree subject or a Bachelor’s degree with equivalent experience.
  • Experience: At least 2-3 years in offshore engineering or naval architecture, working towards CEng.
  • Skills: Proficiency in engineering analysis tools and excellent Microsoft Office skills.
  • Software Knowledge: Experience with Orcaflex and programming software for pre/post-processing inputs/results (e.g., Python).
  • Competencies: Ability to work independently and as part of a team, effective communication, strong problem-solving skills, and basic project management principles.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver engineering analysis and other consultancy services related to floating offshore wind, oil and gas and merchant ships (structural, stability, hydrodynamics, moorings, T&I studies and simulations, FOW floaters selection, jack up site specific assessments etc.) as required by the business
  • Knowledge of Orcaflex software, programming software for pre/post processing of inputs/results (i.e. Pithon or similar)
  • Knowledge of mooring systems, related requirements and analysis (ULS,ALS,Fatigue)
  • Develop skills and knowledge in delivering analysis by making use of proprietary software
  • Provide advice to graduate members of the team, internal stakeholders and external clients
  • To write comprehensive and detailed reports and carry out thorough document reviews as per scope and requirements.
  • Liaise with clients to ensure timely delivery of project deliverables and customer satisfaction
  • Support the UK Engineering Lead in responding to tenders and enquiries and prepare technical database for future team use
  • Attend occasionally construction site or vessels for survey or Third Party activities
