Head of Chartering - Exclusive role

A unique, exclusive opportunity has come forward for an experienced Senior Charterer/Chartering Manager to spearhead the growth of a new chartering company. 2 family-owned shipping companies who have seen incredible success since joining forces have decided a new chartering company is necessary to facilitate the introduction of 13 brand-new 5200 DWT mini-bulkers into their fleet. (The first 3 coming January 2023) This is a role unlike no other as you’ll be given complete authority to grow this part of the business in the way that you see fit. If you’ve ever considered starting up your own business or are currently running a successful, independent company, or working within the industry at a high level for many years, this would be an excellent opportunity to blend your skills and ambition with the resources that our client can offer.
 

Being in constant contract with the Managing Directors, this role completely side-steps man-management and instead focuses on giving you full control over the development of the chartering department; setting your own targets and later down the line, hiring your own team to around you to support you. This role will be best suited to an entrepreneurially minded individual who has a passion for sales and an enthusiasm towards networking and driving new business, but importantly somebody that can also both manage and strengthen the existing business relationships.
 

This role as Head of Chartering has the potential for the candidate to become a partner in the company after some time. My client really wants to invest into this position and the person who will undertake the role.
 

They understand that the candidates for this position, unless for a special circumstance will probably hold long notice periods and will be more than understanding about this.

 

Here are some Essentials & Desirables:

Essential:

• 10 years’ experience in Chartering (Preferably Dry Bulk)
   

• In the last 5 years had experience dealing with Shortsea Spot Charter of Bulkers
   

• Have your own network in the European/North African Market
  
  
   
• Experience in Spot Charter 

Desirable:
 

• Managed people in the past
   

• Experience in Vessel Operations/Managed someone in Vessel Operations
  
  
   
• Be based in Germany or willing to relocate to Germany, and if not, based in a country in Northern Europe
