Consortio have partnered with a world leading Forensic Investigation consultancy, accident investigation firm. The company has been running and leading the market for over 50 years and are known as the go to firm for forensic analysis, expert witness work and casualty investigation. They provide specialist advice on a wide range of inter-disciplinary including nautical services, marine engineering, and civil engineering. Due to the company’s ongoing success, they are looking to expand their current team and you could be their perfect next hire.
They are looking to bring on a person with a background as a Master Mariner and day to day you will travel the world providing forensic style investigation of cargo, navigational and human casualties. This will require extensively surveying vessels and interviewing of people to come to an expert conclusion of what went wrong and who is to blame. You will be working on behalf of ship owners, managers and P&I clubs who will hire our client to provide an experts opinion of the casualty. This is an extremely rewarding line of work due to the nature of getting to still travel the world, be on ships and avoid the drudge of the day to day that so many sea farers fear of coming to shore to become a marine superintendent. You will have to write reports based on your findings and be heavily involved in arbitration and litigation which may have you in court providing evidence and holding up to cross examination.
To be eligible for this role you need to:
- Be a qualified Master Mariner.
- Sailed as a Master Mariner for at least 2 trips - onboard Bulk Carriers, Tankers or Container Vessels.
- Have very good communication skills verbally.
- Extremely strong written skills.
- Your written English must read as if English is your first language (even if it isn’t).
- Be a highly motivated and proactive individual.
- Have the right to live and work in the UK.
It is rare this company are ever hiring due to the amazing retention rates they have. If they hire you, you won’t want to leave! But when they do it’s nearly always for expansion as it is now. What also makes this a rare opportunity is that our client are more than happy to hire you straight from sea. This doesn’t preclude people already ashore, but your experience will be judged equally.
