The 1st Electro Technical Officer (ETO) plays a pivotal role in the maintenance and operation of main and auxiliary engine electrical systems aboard Cruise vessels, working under the guidance of the Chief Electro Technical Officer. This position requires a thorough understanding of electrical systems, strong leadership skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a multicultural environment.
Requirements:
- Hold a valid STCW code A-III/6 Electro Technical Officer license
- Possess STCW Basic Training and PSCRB certifications
- High Voltage Operator certification
- Experience working with Azipods
- Previous experience in rank on cruise vessels
- Strong management skills
- Preferably familiar with AMOS and Fidelio systems
- Proficient in English (reading, writing, and speaking)
- Excellent leadership and decision-making skills
- Ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Purpose of Role: To execute electrical maintenance and overhaul tasks in accordance with the directives of the Chief ETO.
Main Tasks & Activities:
Electrical Maintenance and Repair (Time Allocation: 40%)
- Maintain and upkeep main and auxiliary engine electrical systems, including propulsion, power generation, and boilers.
- Ensure the maintenance of engine automation systems.
- Oversee the maintenance of all distribution and sub-distribution switchboards, including high voltage installations when applicable.
Electrical Checks (Time Allocation: 30%)
- Conduct regular safety checks on appliances and machinery, including insulation checks.
- Perform planned maintenance and tests on alarms and standby systems.
- Clean electrical starter panels and distribution panels as needed.
Electrical Operational Requirements (Time Allocation: 20%)
- Provide input on work programs and installation details to the Chief ETO.
- Update electrical drawings with new installations.
- Assist in work reporting using systems such as Amos and Fidelio, and provide daily and weekly work reports.
- Report consumption of electrical parts and materials.
- Stand duty in the engine control room during standby conditions as requested.
- Supervise and coordinate the daily work of Electro Technical Officers and Ratings as directed by the Chief ETO.
- Participate in on-call duty rotations for engine spaces and critical systems.
Other Duties (Time Allocation: 10%)
- Collaborate with other technical and non-technical staff as required.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with passengers.
- Adhere to relevant regulations, company procedures, and emergency protocols.
- Familiarize oneself with the duties of the Chief ETO and be prepared to assume those duties when required by the Chief Engineer.
