We are looking for a meticulous Estimator with a passion for delivering accurate and competitive bids, to join one of our clients who spealise in construction projects projects diverse in nature, including schools and colleges, affordable and extra care housing, commercial offices, industrial units, hospitals, medical practices, and agricultural buildings. Our client are a well-established regional construction company dedicated to delivering high-quality projects. Due to their continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Estimator to join their team. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to work on diverse and challenging projects, ensuring they are accurately estimated and aligned with their business goals.
The Role:
As an Estimator, you will play a critical role in the pre-construction phase of our projects. Your expertise in cost estimation, tender preparation, and relationship management will be essential in securing new projects and ensuring their financial viability. This position allows for remote/home working, with the requirement to be in the office one day per week.
Key Responsibilities:
Review tender information for accuracy and completeness, including specifications, drawings, reports, and legal documents. Complete on-screen take-offs and measurements to produce bills of quantities and verify measures provided. Use Causeway estimating software to manage cost information and produce detailed costings. Develop and maintain relationships with clients, project managers, and consultants. Engage with the bid team to ensure timely production of tender submission information. Produce supply chain lists, prepare and issue trade enquiries, and analyse subcontractor quotations. Maintain good relationships with subcontractors, including providing feedback and arranging meetings. Manage and coordinate tender clarifications, engage in tender launches, and lead settlement adjudication meetings. Handle post-tender clarifications and produce post-tender information. Ensure smooth handover of projects to the operations team if successful. Provide key dashboard and cost reporting information as required. Produce cost reports and forward forecasting to achieve improvement on project and package tender margins.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven track record in estimating a wide variety of construction projects.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as an estimator or in a similar role.
- Relevant construction qualification (HNC/HND or degree).
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction methods, materials, and best practices.
- Proficiency in Causeway estimating software and on-screen take-off tools such as Bluebeam.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.Familiarity with JCT and NEC contract suites.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Salary/Package
Up to £70,000
