My client is a global P&I (Protection and Indemnity) insurance company with a team of 210 employees worldwide. Their headquarters are located near Liverpool Street Station in London, and they have additional offices in Bermuda, Brazil, Cyprus, Greece, Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore.

They are seeking a dedicated P&I Claims Handler to provide comprehensive claims handling services and expert advice to our cruise and ferry members. This role is based within the Americas Syndicate, working with a team that supports passenger ship members in North America and Europe, whose vessels operate globally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage assigned claims according to company procedures, offering advice on claims-related issues and identifying loss prevention needs.
  • Strengthen the relationship between the Club and its Members for whom the Claims team is responsible.
  • Ensure all electronic correspondence related to assigned claim files is promptly and accurately filed, maintaining and updating e-files as required.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of company procedures and systems.
  • Write relevant articles for inclusion in Club publications.Support the underwriting objectives of the Syndicate.
  • Attend appropriate training to develop relevant knowledge and skills.
  • Perform other duties within the scope of personal skills and abilities as reasonably instructed.
  • Handle any other ad hoc tasks as required.

Person Specification:

  • Degree-educated, preferably with an LLB or LLM in Maritime Law.
  • Experience in handling personal injury matters at another P&I Club, insurer, law firm, or ship owner.
  • Excellent communication skills to build and maintain relationships with Members.
  • High attention to detail and excellent written communication skills.
  • Highly organized, enthusiastic, and able to prioritize individual workload effectively.
  • Ability to work well with people at all levels and within a small team.
